Meet the United Defense Tactical Team

Nolan Reitz is a U.S. Army veteran with nearly seven years of active-duty experience as a Squad Leader, leading soldiers through tactical operations and high-pressure environments. An Expert-qualified marksman across multiple weapon systems and certified Army Combatives Instructor, Nolan has trained over 100 soldiers in combat and self-defense skills. His experience includes deployments to the U.S. southern border and overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Spartan Shield, along with certifications in TCCC and Combat Lifesaver. As UDT Scottsdale’s General Manager and Lead Firearms Instructor, Nolan combines his military leadership, firearms expertise, and commitment to practical training to help members develop the skills, confidence, and mindset to perform when it matters most.

Benjamin Murphy is an 11-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, including six years with Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) as a Critical Skills Operator. His operational experience spans surveillance, reconnaissance, sensitive site exploitation, and small-unit tactics across multiple theaters. A seasoned leader and instructor, Ben has trained 175+ U.S. and partner-nation personnel in machine gun gunnery, mountain operations, and defensive tactics, and served as a Section Leader for a Combined Anti-Armor Team during complex live-fire exercises. At UDT Scottsdale, Ben brings his special operations experience to reality-based firearms training, helping members build technical proficiency, sound decision-making, and confidence under pressure.

Eric Spingler is a retired FBI Special Agent with 23 years of service in the Phoenix Division and more than 16 years as an FBI SWAT Operator. As a SWAT Sniper Team Leader, he selected and trained a 10–12 person sniper element, developed tactical training programs, and deployed on high-risk operations. An FBI-certified SWAT Operator, Firearms Instructor, Tactical Instructor, and Active Shooter Response Instructor, Eric has trained federal, local, and international law enforcement personnel in reality-based firearms and tactical skills. His earlier career as a police officer, corporal, and detective adds decades of street-level law enforcement experience. At UDT Scottsdale, Eric brings that depth of federal, SWAT, and real-world operational experience to practical instruction focused on firearms proficiency, tactical decision-making, and performing under pressure.

Victor Nanez is a U.S. Air Force veteran, firearms instructor, and safety professional with more than 10 years of experience spanning military emergency response, armed security, firearms instruction, and adult education. During six years in the Air Force, Victor served as a firefighter and deployed three times, providing fire protection and casualty care in operational environments. With experience training more than 1,000 Arizona DPS security guards, Victor brings a strong background in safety, scenario-based training, and decision-making under pressure. He specializes in concealed carry, home defense, firearm safety, and practical defensive preparation, with an emphasis on helping everyday people confidently apply their skills to real-life situations. At UDT Scottsdale, Victor takes a grounded, student-focused approach to firearms training, helping members build confidence, understand their equipment, and develop practical defensive skills for themselves and their families.
